If you are reading this post you are probably like me and looking for some delicious, yet healthy snacks!
Sometimes I am in the mood to snack, but that usually means it probably isn’t going to be the healthiest thing for me. Unfortunately, just the opposite! (Think ice cream and chips!) Because many snack foods are loaded with carbs and calories, they end up not being satisfying at all. Therefore, it’s probably time for me to find a list of healthy snacks!!!
Since we all know that snacks are not created equal, it’s important to find a variety that are both, tasty and healthy.
In today’s post, we’ll cover some quick and easy healthy snacks, along with some that require just a bit of time to prepare. Hopefully you will find a few ideas that will suit your lifestyle. Thus, I present, Healthy Snacks that Give You a Boost of Energy!

Here is a yummy”grab-and-go” snack for those super busy days. Apple slices with peanut butter, dark and white chocolate chips, pecans and sliced almonds. A healthy snack doesn’t get much easier than this. In addition, it seems like the possibilities are endless!
Peanut allergy? No problem! Additional options: almond, sunflower butter, soy-nut, coconut or cashew butter. Additional toppings: toasted coconut, dried cranberries, blueberries or cherries, chopped walnuts or cashews.
If you love dips, then this recipe for Peanut Butter Dip is for you! It literally takes minutes to whip up and is delicious served with fresh apple, banana slices, or celery stalks.
If you need a snack with a little more substance, try this open-faced sandwich. Top a thinly sliced piece of whole wheat bread with fresh spinach leaves, slices of avocado and a seasoned fried egg. (Feel free to omit the bread.)
What could be better for you than a bowl of chopped veggies? Drizzle a mixture of extra virgin olive oil and Bragg Raw Organic Apple Cider Vinegar over top. Finish with a sprinkle of freshly ground black pepper, a dash of sea salt and garlic powder. Now you’re ready to grab a spoon and dig in! Yummy!
Green is good. Consequently, all fresh green salads are fabulous! Mix fresh spinach, peas, slices of jalapeno pepper and cucumber together. Top with a sprinkle of pumpkin seeds and Parmesan cheese or chunks of goat cheese. (I recommend using the same dressing from the previous dish.)
Mixed nuts are another healthy snack. Loaded with all sorts of nutrients and healthy benefits, a handful of mixed nuts can certainly do the trick!
Along the same lines, sunflower seeds and pumpkin seeds satisfy the urge to munch, and add nutrition and fiber to your diet. If you are watching your sodium intake, purchase raw, unsalted seeds.
Although actually munching on something can be extremely satisfying, enjoying a healthy beverage can be refreshing as well. Grab your blender and enjoy a delicious and nutritious beverage such as the Java Chip Smoothie, Pumpkin Pie Smoothie, Mulled Apple Cider, Pineapple Mint Cilantro Smoothie, or create your very own. Try a combination of green apples, cucumber, spinach, mint, lemon and a tablespoon of honey.
Just a small portion of a scrumptious tortilla wrap can provide you with a boost of energy when you need it the most. Thinly sliced turkey or chicken, tomatoes, and lettuce rolled up in a tortilla makes for a delicious afternoon snack.
For those days when you have a little extra time, consider making a quick and personalized mini pizza. Take one whole wheat tortilla (or half of a whole wheat pita bread), and top it with your favorite cheese, fresh tomatoes, roasted peppers, and asparagus. Bake/broil for 5 to 10 minutes, or until golden brown.
Grab a handful of your favorite crackers and top them with some fresh guacamole! As a result, just three or four of these tasty treats will help hunger pains go away and give you the boost you need.
Seems like fresh fruit is always a good option. Because each fruit has its own unique nutrition values and qualities, it is wise to combine a wide variety of colorful fruits. For this reason, it’s probably best to eat a small bowl of mixed fruits.
But… fresh fruit is perfect when combined with low-fat yogurt, delicious homemade granola or whole grain groats. You can find a variety of different groats that would work perfectly in a healthy parfait. Grains such as oats, millet, Bulgur, and buckwheat work well.
Another great idea is to “dress up” sliced cucumbers with a dollop of garlic and herb cream cheese spread, sun dried tomatoes and sprigs of fresh thyme!
You may think that asparagus wrapped in prosciutto is just for dinner. Nope! How about enjoying a few stalks mid-afternoon? I think you may find that just a few stalks will probably do the trick!
If you are a planner, then make this delicious overnight Apple Pie Oatmeal! Most of all, overnight oatmeal makes a perfect “grab-and-go” healthy snack (or breakfast!)
First of all, we all know that water is essential to staying hydrated. No one said it has to be boring though, right? Combine your favorite fresh fruits and citrus to create a unique and delicious and flavorful Simple But Mighty Detox Waters. Furthermore, aren’t they visually appealing?
Also, simply adding a few slices of citrus and mint leaves can turn ordinary water into something refreshing and healthy.
Finally, remember that it’s important to find foods you will actually enjoy. Consequently, I hope you found some new ideas for Healthy Snacks that Give You a Boost of Energy!
While I still may crave ice cream and/or chips, I know that getting into the habit of keeping healthy snack options readily available will help. Maybe now I can finally lose those extra pounds that seem to be creeping on.
Enjoy!
Linda
